Jonathan Bobrow in conversation with Celia Pearce

Jonathan Bobrow is the Co-Founder and CEO of Move38, a unique game design platform that believes that play shapes the way we think, and we need new ways to play. Through their open source game, Blinks, Move38 have put game design into the hands of their community, which has opened up hundreds of new iterations of Blinks and formed a self-sustaining community around the concept of play. A sense of play can be a tool for fostering collaboration, the establishment of shared goals, and new ways to approach complex problems. An ability to deconstruct the whole into component parts is an essential criteria for game design, and play, and is central to building and maintaining community.

Joining Jonathan in this conversation is Celia Pearce, award winning game designer, professor, and co-founder of IndieCade. Together, their conversation will explore the way we interact with play and games as a way of navigating complex human problems, and will explore the application of diverse knowledge sources to games, highlighting the human appetite for building new things. Through the lens of Blinks, this conversation will explore the value of curating open source communities, built on the importance of play.
